Blue face piece
clay piece
Reaching out for help piece
My piece conveys and popular rap artist. Blue-face is shown in profile mode with lots of light on the face. The element we used the most most was texture in the hair. the principle we used the most was movement shown also through out the hair and back ground.
The piece was created by using the technique known as collage by tearing paper out of magazines and gluing it down to create the piece. We used cut paper for a more smooth background and ripped up black paper for the hair showing the texture in the dreads.
I was inspired by Derek Gores work to get an idea of how the piece is suppose to look my group went for a more realistic approach with doing a person. we through people would easily recognize who it was.
The goal for the project was to create something different with using paper to create a face. The piece shows shapes, line, texture, and form. i tried to show color and and different light and dark values in the skin tone.
overall i think my piece could differently use some help with the little details and small paper and working with the brown skin tones were very hard but i think it could be better if we did this again.
light never lies piece
My Artwork is about a persons secrets being hidden for a long time but they will never be unknown you can always see the truth through any lie. Having the light from the lamp shine on the hand showing the under neath skin of a person just like the under neath of the lie is the truth.
I created my art by first starting with an idea of what i wanted to do, i saw this image of google of this hand under water but half of the skin was showing which gave me the idea to show the underneath of a persons skin but through using light as the resource.
The big idea behind the piece is that i really wanted to actually convey a meaningful piece and showing something interesting and a little on the scary side by adding the blood dripping letters. i wanted my piece to be more clean a details with adding the black background to my everything in the foreground to stand out and pop.
My final goal for this project was to show growth with the technique i used which was acrylic paint. i wanted the piece to stand out from my others that weren't as time consuming and hard to produce.
The over well thoughts on my piece are that i am very pleased and happy that i worked hard to show the growth and skills I've learned and put it in the this piece. I think i'm knowledge able the second time around also using the paint and made my piece stand out and have clean lines. This piece will influence my next work will become more details and grow in skills.
oil pastel piece
This piece shows a skull in dark blank space conveying many colors on the face of the skull. The obvious part of my piece is the use of bright colors they are vibrant. The principle i used the most was value of color in the eye from light gray to dark black.
My piece was made by using steps from looking for an ideas to drawing four sketches and planning and mapping out the piece also practicing how to use the pastels.I used very heavy pressure while doing my back ground for a solid seamless look.
The inspiration for this piece was To make a skull that is different from the other more realistic skulls other artists portray in their work. I thought that the skull would look cool and since i haven't used pastel before i didn't want to add to much little details to wear i thought it would be hard to find the little spaces.
The goal for my piece was to learn more about the techniques of pastels and how to work with the pastels finding a balance from looking to easy but still trying to add details to the piece with the pastels was tricky.
Overall, i am proud of my piece and the outcome of what it looks like but i would say that i think i played it safe by not adding as much detail as i wanted. And i would have been happier if i blended the colors a little more. I will experiment with more pastels in the time to come adding to my current knowledge.
I wanted my piece to be different and odd to the eye to look at. Adding all the big and wide see through holes added that weird look that you don't find common in coil pot.i Used space and shapes to give depth to my piece.
I started creating my piece by first sketching and looking for ideas and inspiration for the coil pot. Then we started with and round slab at the base and added the first coil for support. I then also incorporated the large circles and the rock like balls on my coil pot.
The idea behind my coil pot is that it should be interesting for people to look at and shouldn't be bland and unoriginal.i want my piece to be bold and eye capturing.
The goals for my project were that i improve on the techniques like rolling out coils and making designs like the flowers or donuts. i also wanted to get a little more experience for using the class because I've only used it once before.
My overall thoughts about my piece is that i think i could have made my coil pot cleaner and more smoothed on the inside and i would have liked to see the indention in my piece.
water color piece
My artwork is about a girl crying for help and her friend is holding her back for it. My artwork has a lot of color but i would think as my piece to be more of a cartoon like piece then realistic.
I created my artwork by first coming up with a concept of what i wanted to do then mapped it out in my sketch book and practiced drawing the hand since i thought it was the hardest part then i used the final paper and mapped out my piece then used prismas to add color to my piece.
The idea was to convey the girl as being sad and not happy in her friendship but the other friend wont leave her a lot and let her go. My artwork has a lot of meaning and sadness about it but i tried to keep the colors really upbeat and bright.
My goal was to make sure that i really showed foreshortening in the piece and that you knew when you first looked at it that the hand was reaching out and i think i did a good job of conveying that.
My over all thoughts on the piece is that i don't feel that i was skilled enough to used the prismas and that it would have came out more realistic if i used pin and ink or just pencil but over all i do like the end result.
My piece shows foreground mid-ground and back ground by having a deck and then water and mountains and hills filled with trees and beyond that is the sunset sky line. The most obvious element is water color and the use of blending through out the piece.i tried using texture to show the ways the leaves were moving through the piece.
The piece was created with the skills and techniques of water color paint. I used two techniques on my piece which were wet on dry and wet on wet. the wet on wet was for the water color wash and back ground then i would use the wet on dry for move fine details.
My thoughts and inspiration for this was because i was challenged to show perspective and i wanted to try out doing an landscape showing different demotions. My work is suppose to pop out and get the attention of peoples eyes.
My goal was to just try my best because was inexperienced with using water color and didn't really master the skill before preforming. i wanted to just find something that would show the skills i did learn off in the piece.
my overall thoughts on the piece was that i am not very happy with the outcome i know if i had more time i would have added more details and practiced more before using the final watercolor paper.
My piece shows depth and that drugs are a bad thing and shouldn't be taken for granted. The piece has watercolor and lots of line quality that i added into it. i used heavy pressure for the shadow and lines in the syringe and medicine bottle.
The piece was created by using a mixture of water color and pen textures i used thick to thin lines to add the effect that the objects were round. I also used stippling to add the effect off bubbles and that stuff was in the needle.
My inspiration for the pen and ink piece was to convey and show that drugs are needed to be used in the right way not used for people to abuse and take advantage off. And i started with lots of ideas and concepts of what to do but i was really into incorporating the water color into the needle.
The goal for my piece was to defiantly show growth and also become better at pen and ink because in is tricky technique to use and master.i feel i might've took an easy approach to the pen and ink only because i have never used it in small details and small areas before.
overall, i am very unsure with my piece i feel as if i could have done better in a since but also I think that i did try to see and incorporate what my piece was trying to covey and reflect from the artist i chose to use.
cross contour piece
Masters style piece
portrait piece
My Master style that I chose was impressionism, My piece was a shark in the ocean with small short brush strokes. The most obvious element is value. The most obvious principle is contrast in the water and the gradient from light to dark.
To create my piece I started with a concept and the style I wanted to compose. After I figured out that I wanted to do a shark in the ocean I started four sketches in my notebook of different positions of the shark and which one would catch the eye of people. Next i mapped out the shark on my canvas then prepared my background. After all that i added my details into the shark and water.
My inspiration for this piece was that I wanted to convey the movement through impressionism. The emotion that i wanted to show was how sharks are dangerous but can be delicate in there on way.
My goal as an artist is to learn more techniques and to challenge my self to become a better artist in the long run. I did reach my goal in some parts by showing a clear style and giving a clean presentation.
By creating my piece i learned about different styles and was to show the style like long brush strokes is expressionism. Overall Im very happy about the piece i created I think i showed a lot of progress in this style and learning how to use this paint.
My piece depicts a famous young women who is Zendaya. The most obvious element is value. the most obvious principle is contrast.
To create this piece I started by looking up my image that I wanted to draw, then i mapped out the face shape and eyes, nose, lips ,and hair placement then i started with the eyes first because they were the darkest area besides the hair.
My inspiration for this piece was about being in the spot light having everyone looking at you having to be happy and okay all the time putting a smile on your face. The emotion I tried to convey was a since of putting on a show for everyone.
My goal as an artist was to create a realistic portrait and to learn more steps to accomplishing my goal. I didn't reach my goal because it doesn't really look like the person i was trying to convey but i did learn more ways to draw and shade hair and eyes.
By creating this piece I learned that working and being focused on making the portrait realistic will help.Overall I kinda like but kinda don't like my piece because of the fact that its not showing realism but my techniques have shown throughout the work.
